How it all began

The Rack Pack was formed by a chance meeting between Jessi Pruett, Cara Hickerson, Bethany Herr and Somer Lambert in 2013 at a Runway for the Cure event in Jackson, Tennessee. Jessi and Cara happened to sit at the same “Survivor Table” and Cara told Jessi about two other survivors she had just recently met who happened to be modeling in the show. After the show, the ladies met and talked about how there was not a breast cancer support group for younger women going through breast cancer. They decided that night to form their own support group. The first meeting of The Rack Pack was held in the lobby of the Kirkland Cancer Center with six ladies in attendance along with the nurse navigator from Kirkland Cancer Center. The group quickly discovered that not only was there no local support group for young women going through breast cancer, but they were unaware of a breast cancer support group period in the rural West Tennessee Area (outside of Memphis or Nashville). The Rack Pack decided that age was simply a number and they were more interested in attracting women of a certain mindset instead of a certain age. The Rack Pack is not a “woe is me” type support group. The ladies of the Rack Pack help each other by encouraging each other to continue to fight.
